Hi everyone. As you know, this year’s Crescent Beach Gathering (just south of Vancouver) will be taking place from June 21 to 23.The Early Bird registration deadline for those wishing to stay overnight at the Alexandra Centre is May 14 – just a week away – so please register now to take advantage of the lower rates. The final registration deadline, for both overnight and day visitors, is June 14 – but it certainly helps the organizers if you can register sooner, rather than later! The registration package is attached.Although plans are still being finalized – along with the usual latihans, testing, socializing and hanging-out, there will be a number of other events happening at this year’s gathering, including:
- Come and help celebrate Bapak’s birthday
- A hybrid (in-person & virtual) Subud Canada AGM will take place for members of Subud Canada on Saturday afternoon
- Kumari Beck will be organizing dinner on Friday night and breakfast on Saturday morning. Other meals will be provided by the Centre
- Adena and Michelle von Hahn have lots of ideas for youth activities over the weekend. Anyone who is “young at heart” is invited to participate!
A very tentative (bare bones) schedule is attached, but it will give you some idea of what to expect. Please let me know if you have a workshop or other activity that you would like to offer over the weekend.BUT PLEASE DON’T DELAY, REGISTER TODAY!!!!Dave Hitchcockfor the Organizing TeamRegistration package

Lorraine Tedrow Memorial Update
Lorraine Tedrow Memorial Saturday May 4, 2024, at The Subud Greater Seattle house. If you are planning to attend and have not yet RSVPed please do so before May 2 to sebastiantedrow@gmail.com
Parking is at a premium near the Subud House so carpool if you can.
Also Saturday is not a free parking day so most of the parking around the center is 2 hours so be aware. There are pay parking lots at the Swedish Cherry Hill Campus at 15th and Jefferson south of the Subud House.
We are hoping that the road construction materials will be removed before Saturday.
Note from Annie!
Bapak’s Talk to Applicants
This is a link to a talk Bapak gave to new applicants to Subud in 1960. It is considered okay for non Subud members to see. Subud – Bapak Speaks to Applicants
Subud Gathering in Canada June 21-23
Good morning to our dear brothers and sisters in the Pacific Northwest.
Please excuse this “scatter gun” approach, but we wanted to ensure that as many as possible of our US friends receive the following registration information about our June gathering at Crescent Beach.
We know that some of you won’t be able to come, especially because the World Congress is just a month later but, as usual, we are grateful if you can please help to “spread the word” south of the border in any ways possible.
So, here it is – the registration package for this year’s Crescent Beach Family Gathering!
Starting at 4.00 pm on Friday June 21 and finishing at 2.00 pm on Sunday June 23, the weekend will largely follow the successful format of the many previous family gatherings at this ideal location. Plenty of opportunities, for latihan, testing, walks beside the ocean, visits to the nearby village for ice-cream and other treats, catching up with old friends, making new ones and simply hanging out, relaxing and doing nothing!
And, of course, we will be celebrating Bapak’s birthday!
This year, we would really like to encourage you to bring your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren (and even someone else’s children!), to this child-friendly spot. Adena and Michelle von Hahn have lots of great ideas for youth activities, some of which might also attract the child in us older members.
Whether you will be attending the World Congress in Indonesia in July or not, we extend this invitation to all Subud members, wherever you live in Canada and the United States.
All registration details and the various options are provided in the attached package, together with a link to the gathering website (http://mcdwip.wixsite.com/crescentbeach) that Maemunah Doran has, once again, set up. Please contact Maemunah at maemunahcd@gmail.com or 250 686 7737 if you have any “techy questions” about how to complete the online registration.
The overall format will be similar to previous year, but if you have any special workshops or activities that you would like to offer, please contact Dave Hitchcock at davehhitchcock@gmail.com or 250 370 1291.
If you want to sleep over (see the options in the registration package), but are unable to bring bedding with you, some bedding and towel packages will be available, thanks to Paul Edwards. Please note this on your registration.
Kumari Beck has volunteered to cater dinner on Friday night and breakfast on Saturday morning and the remaining meals will be provided by the Alexandra Centre. Snacks will be provided for those “in-between meal” nibbles.
And, of course, there will be the usual cultural (entertainment) evening on Saturday. Marston Kubicek (SICA Canada Chair) will be coordinating those willing to share their talents, so please contact him if you would like to participate at almadore@yahoo.com
The attached package lists the various registration options for overnight and day visitors. Meals can be ordered as a package for the whole weekend or separately, as required. Despite a significant increase in the rental rate for the use of the Alexandra Centre, thanks to another generous contribution by Subud Vancouver we have managed to keep the registration rates as affordable as possible. However, if the cost is prohibitive for you, financial support is available. Please don’t be shy to ask!
If you have any questions about, or suggestions for, the weekend, please contact Dave Hitchcock at davehhitchcock@gmail.com or 250 370 1291.
Your Organizing Team and Western Regional Helpers look forward to being with you in June.

CRESCENT BEACH ANNOUNCEMENT
This might be a nice retreat for members not going to the world congress.
Although it is only mid-March, there is definitely a feeling of summer in the air. At least in south-
western British Columbia, where we have just experienced an unusual spell of dry sunny weather
with temperatures in the high teens (centigrade!)
So, it’s time to start thinking about the Crescent Beach Family Gathering that will take place
over the June 21/23 weekend.
Located near White Rock, just south of Vancouver and close to the US border, this year’s get-
together will follow the usual informal format. Plenty of opportunity for latihan and testing,
culture (including an entertainment evening), workshops, activities and time for simply hanging
out, socializing, relaxing, walking to the beach or to the nearby village for an ice cream.
This year, two of our younger Subud Vancouver members have volunteered to organize activities
for the kids. They have lots of neat ideas and invite you to bring your children, grandchildren,
cousins, other family members, friends and neighbors. And, of course, the kids will have their
own ideas of what they would like to do – did I mention the beach and ice cream?
The weekend runs from 4.00 pm on Friday June 21 until 2.00 pm on Sunday June 23. The full
registration package will be sent out in April, with options for registering for the whole
weekend, sleeping on-site (or not), day visitors and the selection of individual meals.
In the meantime, if you have any questions or suggestions for the gathering, please contact me.
