Fredrick’s Memorial Service Update!

 

Our family invites you to come appreciate and remember Fredrick with us. A celebration of his life will be held at the Spring Street Subud House in Seattle on Saturday, February 25th, Debbie Machado will be preparing luncheon, all dad’s favorites, so please take a moment to RSVP here so she can prepare the right quantities.

Revised schedule:

12:30 Welcome and beverage service
1:00-1:45 Latihan
1:50-3:00 Meal service/Visiting time.
3:00 Celebration of Fredrick
Dessert following (Fredrick’s favorites)
Other things to know:
We will have a revolving slideshow of Fredrick’s life showing on the wall in the women’s latihan stage area during visiting times.
We will not be streaming the service, but we will be videotaping it and we will make that available afterward.
Should anyone wish to make a memorial donation, we know Fredrick would greatly appreciate a gift to any of the Subud charities/organizations.

Omson Passes!

Our dear Subud brother and longtime Seattle member Omson Schroder died on Valentines’ day, Tuesday February 14th.
He and his wife Anna (nee Finley) were both members in Seattle and moved to Anna’s family farm in Ohio 20years ago.  Omson is survived by Anna and their two lovely daughters, Evelyn and Roberta.

Obituary for Omson Finley Schroeder

SCHROEDER, Omson Finley, age 72, of Oregonia, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati.

A brilliant, true Norwegian in character, Omson was talented in many aspects of his life. He was a welder in the shipyards in Seattle, a bookkeeper, a landscaper, an artist, a potter, and finally, a farmer. He was a member of Subud. He greatly enjoyed nature and music. As a child from a family of tailors, he had a proclivity for nicely made, tailored clothing. During the holiday season, having the family gather for Christmas dinner was a cherished tradition. Among many things, he will be remembered for the love he had for his family and how proud he was of his two children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Dagmar Schroeder, and brother, Dag Schroeder. He is survived by his wife, Anna; two children, Evelyn Schroeder (fianceé Scott Uphus) and Roberta Schroeder; one brother, Kenneth, and wife, Kathie Schroeder; and dear friend, Raymond Devine.

Private services at a later date. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home will be serving the family. If desired,

Latihan/Potluck in Olympia this coming Saturday!

INVITATION:  Maryka and David in Olympia are hosting a 12 noon Latihan followed by a Potluck at their home on Saturday February 18th, 2023.  
Yup! that’s right NOON 12 noon on Saturday, (instead of the usual 11am Latihan time). Hopefully, this will encourage participation from afar.
Why?  Olympia and other locations in the PNW are experiencing the loss of Subud members. Let’s encourage our satellite latihan locations by attending and bringing good cheer!
 
CARPOOL OPTIONS:  Alexa Wichert is offering up 7 seats in her comfortable SUV for those that would like to carpool and contribute to gas.

Note from Jim

I would like to thank Alexa for taking several hours before Latihan on Sunday to transform the back entrance to the women’s hall.  She has truly created a beautiful and welcoming area!  Alexa also brought a rug for the area which is from Tibet.  I didn’t get a picture of it, but is also gorgeous.

In addition to the rug, Alexa also donated the chair and little table in the entrance to the women’s hall.

 

Announcements!

1.  The SPNW board is setting up a reserved fund for scholarships for people in need to be able to attend our annual Fall kedjiwaan gathering (frequently referred to as Menucha, but we’re trying to lose that habit).
2. A reminder about Halstein’s memorial:

There will be a talk by Ibu Rahayu, and also testing to follow if people would like.

Message from Jim!

Big thanks to everyone who came to the holiday party!

The food was delicious, the company was so very wonderful to have.
Special thanks to Alexa for finding the group a lovely big new dining room table and chairs, and big thanks to all the individuals who helped move the table first into the garage and then into the dining room.

Alexa, heartfelt thanks also for bringing thoughtful gifts for the committee and crew.

Extra special thanks to members who graciously invited non-members to our event, and members who invited their children.
