Subud Great Seattle Dewan Meeting
Minutes: Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 9 am at the Spring Street Center.
Present: Sherwin and Hadijah O’Bar, Marston and Hadidjah Gregory, Elisha Gullixson, Oswald Norton, David Lynch, Paul Nelson

Review of Last Month’s Minutes
Minutes taken by Hadiyah Carlyle were accepted by the committee. The final copy is reflected on the Subud Greater Seattle website: http:/subudgreaterseattle.com/dewan-meeting-minutes-january-5th-2014. As Hadiyah was out of town, Oswald Norton volunteered to take minutes.

Financial Report
A printed financial report with income through February 2014 was presented by Sherwin O’Bar. This report showed over all a smaller loss for February than January.

Income and expenses from two Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) events held at The Center and rent attendees from that event that stayed at the Subud house are still to be accounted.

The detail financial report is available by emailing Subudpnwtreasurer@hotmail.com

Status of Member Support for out 2014 Budget
A 2014 budget has been developed by your committee. We based this budget on member donations from last year and income from The Spring Street Center. We will not know if this budget is realistic, if members do not return the 2014 Donation Information form for SGS, previously sent out by our treasurer.

Send In Your Form! If we’re to know how to plan for caring for the expenses of our house in the coming year we need everyone to fill in the form and return it via email to subudpnwtreasurer@hotmail.com.

Helper Report
Monthly Testing Sessions
Regular monthly testing sessions have been conducted by the helpers. On February 23rd there were 12 questions tested were about love. The Quality of love. How we love ourselves. And other questions.

In March, the area to be tested will be around Growth and Renewal. Stay Tuned for the date.

Monday Latihans discontinued
Due to a lack of attendance, there will no longer be a latihan on Mondays. The schedule has been updated on the website.

Active Women Helper’s still needed
There is still a need for more women helpers who have gone inactive to become active again and assist with latihans both in Seattle and on the eastside. We currently only have one active women helper, which is limiting coverage.

Spring Street Center
Those that used the Subud house both as a facility and four housing during the AWP conference remarked on what a great facility it was. Amalio Madueño, President of the Taos, (New Mexico) Poetry Circus was staying at the Subud House. Paul asked him to talk a little bit about the facility and what he thought of it.

He said he felt that it could rival the Hugo House as a facility for literary events in Seattle. He also recommended that we look more closely at staffing so that we could plan for more security than we’ve been covering. But, that we had a great location and a wonderful facility that he would recommend to anyone. He said he would be willing to write a feasibility study. (Later Evan Padilla would suggest he be opened in Subud.)

Help Promote Spring Street Center and Attend Cascade Poetry Festival for free
We need 4 members to volunteer be at a booth promoting the Spring Street Center May 2nd, 3rd and 4th at Seattle University where a part of the Cascadia Poetry Festival will be held. We’ve been given the booth in exchange for use of Spring Street Center for poetry readings. If we’re to rival the Hugo Center, we need members to help promote. AND as a bonus you’ll receive a free pass to the festival. This will be EXCELLENT outreach for Subud and the Spring Street Center rental business.

If we had 6 people volunteer for one half a session we’d have it covered. Please contact Oswald Norton for further details. We could also use some Subud people around the house late Friday and Saturday during the weekend to help ensure things so smoothly.

Insurance Needs Examined
Sherwin O’Bar brought up our current insurance policy and whether we needed to work with our insurance company to look at the current coverage and to see if it was adequate. Sherwin also agreed to work on this.

SUSA National Conference Delegate
David Lynch with represent the Subud Greater Seattle group as our chairman. At future general meetings he will be asking for input from our members on items to be discussed at the Conference Thursday, May 22nd to Monday May 26th, 2014 at the Robert Morris University • Pittsburgh, PA.
